Mountain Paintings

The mountains amaze and delight us, inspiring in the human spirit peaks of excitement and curiosity. It seems strange to think that our appetite for heights is something invented by modern culture. The awe and grandeur of massive, mountainous landscapes , such as the Mont Blanc , are certainly a universal instinct.

But historians argue that this is not the case. Before the 18th century, Europeans feared mountains and valleys when hiking at high altitudes. They were perceived as hideous wild expanses of stones and rocks, deadly enemies of life. It took the Romantic movement for the mountains to appear mysterious in their wildness, tempting in their dramatic danger.

The magic of the mountains in art

It's a realm of the imagination where artists seem to have been ahead of the crowd... Some of them represented the high peaks, and even explored the wonderful mountains and snow-covered forests long before.

Leonardo da Vinci, for example, climbed the Alps like a mountaineer. In his paintings, he highlights the slopes, the glacial paths, and all sorts of mountain landscapes.

Titian is another Renaissance artist who had a feel for high mountains. In his paintings, the blue shadows of the foothills of the Alps are seen with nostalgia and acute love. Trees on the top of a hill or peak, in a blue sky identical to that of the lakes, and a city overlooking a valley in the Pyrenees . Details like these make Titian a true lover of mountain landscapes.

Our mountain paintings as wall decoration

The two artists mentioned earlier are from mountain towns. But other artists, such as our photographers, have also found the mountains unforgettable...

Most of the time, a mountain is just a dry, pointed rock with a high peak. The romantic discovery of the mountains was not as sudden as all that, at least not in art.

But today, thanks to the magnificent photographs captured amidst the highest peaks , after a dozen expeditions and hours of climbing to gain several meters in altitude, Lofty Trend offers thousands of beautiful items, including the following paintings:
  • Volcano Painting
  • Mont Blanc Painting
  • Everest Painting
  • Vintage Skiing Painting
